Dr. Alex Benson is an Associate Professor at Western University in the Department of Psychology. He is also an Associate Editor at the APA journal Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. His research focuses on group dynamics with the goal of better understanding what enables teams and the people within them to thrive. Reflecting the complexity of teams, Dr. Benson's lab focuses on a breadth of topics, spanning leadership, followership, team personality composition, and the processes surrounding the integration of new members. This work integrates diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to better understand the conditions and processes that shape our experiences in work groups and teams.
