Profile
I joined the Psychology Department at Western University in June 2024. Prior to that I was the Associate Academic Dean and an Associate Professor, Psychology, at Brescia University College.
My training was in behavioural neuroscience. I obtained my PhD from the Centre for Studies in Behavioural Neurobiology, Concordia University and then did post-doctoral research at the Douglas Hospital Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. My main interests were in the effects of hormones, including the stress hormones, on brain areas linked to motivation. My interests in motivation and stress have continued but I have shifted from behavioural neuroscience to consideration of these topics in applied settings, such as educational settings. With that shift my interests expanded to also include personal characteristics, such as personality traits and perfectionism, in understanding changes in motivation and in our ability to cope with stress. My interests are primarily in Educational Psychology and Personality.
