Welcome!
The Esses Lab for the Study of Intergroup Relations at The University of Western Ontario studies a variety of topics of immediate interest in today's globalized society. Our primary research interests include stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination; immigration and cultural diversity; ethnic relations; dehumanization; gender relations; attitudes toward overweight individuals; and attitudes toward gays and lesbians. The researchers in our lab aim to understand and facilitate more productive interactions between groups through laboratory and field research. Our research is funded by grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, including Standard Research Grants and a Community-University Research Alliance Grant.
